We all hit a time in our lives where we have to change our style up. Instead of trashing your entire wardrobe and buying new clothing, you can do any of the following to try out something new. Remember that it won’t take all 10 things, sometimes all you need is one change to completely revolutionize your wardrobe.

10 Fun and Easy Ways to Change Your Style Up!

1.Be Bold

Changing up your wardrobe can be as simple as adding a few bold color or pattern choices here and there. This doesn’t mean that you should go out and buy a houndstooth jacket or leopard skirt, instead think about the smaller items that you put on last – a houndstooth scarf or bangle can add just  enough interest or a pair of patterned tights with a subtle animal print can be flirty and fun. Start with the small items, and eventually you will want to have bigger, bolder items!

2. Belt It!

Many times we want to change up our style because we want to look or feel different – or because we already do. If your clothes is fitting you differently because you’ve lost or gained weight, you can make them look fresh again with a simple solution: add a belt! Belting a cardigan, a dress, or even a tunic can help to define your waist and completely transforms the look of the garment. If you want to hide a problem area, getting a thicker belt that stretches might be your best bet. If you just want to nip in your dress that’s a little too big, a thin belt will draw attention to your frame.

3. Put a Ring On It

Women used to wear tons of rings all the time, and somewhere along the line they became a forgotten piece of jewelry. Adding a few rings to your jewelry box can help to give you the right amount of shine and sparkle. Invest in some cocktail rings for those nights out or simple metal rings that you can use during the day. If you really want to push it, invest in some midi rings that you can stack.

4. Slip Into Statement Boots

With the explosion in popularity of pop-country music (Hello Taylor Swift!), cowboy and riding boots have made a sharp right turn into the heart of mainstream fashion. Once you find a pair of these boots that you absolutely adore they can become your daily fashion statement, that’ll turn heads everywhere you go.  Pair these boots with a flowy cotton dress for a day of shopping, a pair of shorts for a day outside or with your favorite pair of skinny jeans or leggings. Riding boots tend to look a bit more tailored – so wear those into the office with a great skirt or dress. If you don’t have a pair of these statement boots in your wardrobe yet, it just may be time to make this fashionable investment today, especially for fall!5. Chic Lipstick

You can change up your style without even touching your wardrobe – just ask Taylor Swift! Red lipstick automatically makes whatever else you are wearing more daring, bolder, and just a little more fashion forward. For nights out on the town, a bright red with blue undertones works great against your LBD and heels. For work, go for either a darker red that borders on wine or a lighter red with more orange undertones in it. Just don’t forget to do a tooth check before you leave the house!

6. Don’t Break the Bank

As we age, we tend to think that we need to spend more money on clothing – but that isn’t true, especially when you are trying to change your style. Hit up the stores that sell things that might not be as well made, but run trendier. That way you can test out a certain pattern or style without spending too much and feeling like you have to wear something that really isn’t you. Get a top with cut out detailing, a pair of boots with embellishments, or a pair of faux leather pants. Once you know that something is your style, then you can go and buy something that is of better quality.

7. Try Trendy Tights

Tights combine quite a few of the elements on this list quite well – you can get them in bold patterns, they don’t cost a lot of money, they work well with statement boots, and they look great with something that has been belted. Tights come in all sorts of patterns and colors – ranging from simple black with lines to printed tights that have pizzas on them! While the latter probably isn’t your style (or desired style), something in between more than likely is. Throw on a pair of textured tights with a plain dress and you instantly amp up your fashion sense a few ticks. Put them on under shorts to extend the life of other parts of your wardrobe – opening up tons of wardrobe ideas.

8. Add Some Leather (Or Pleather!)

Leather pants have been a no-no item for a long time, but that doesn’t mean leather is off the table completely. Buying a skirt with leather patches is one of the biggest fashion statements right now as are leather bags. Don’t forget about your belt and high boots – those can come in leather as well. Once you get over your initial fear of leather, you realize that you already have a ton of it that you wear, so why not add a little more? A leather jacket will keep you warm and edge up looks that have lace or muted colors. And if you’re feeling up to it – rocking a pair of leather pants from time to time can help you bring out your inner rock star!

9. Menswear – From the Men’s Section

There’s women’s inspired menswear, and then there is actually shopping in the men’s section. There are a few things you will notice while shopping on the other side: it is cheaper, they have more selection, and they really do have a lot of the same things. As long as you do the next item on the list, it should expand your selection by quite a lot.

10. Tailoring

The easiest way to change up your existing clothing to a new style? Get it tailored! Tailors exist all over and far too few people utilize them. Once your tailor knows your body, all it really takes it dropping your clothing off and picking it up – what’s easier than that? If that isn’t in the budget, hemming a pair of pants is super easy and there are tutorials all over the internet.

These 10 fun and easy ways to mix your style up a bit are only the beginning! Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while and try something new and daring, who knows, maybe you’ll find that new fashion that transforms your style for the better! What are some other simple ways of giving your style a boost?
