Thanksgiving Dinner Tips and Shortcuts  

Thanksgiving dinner is always a big production as it is traditionally the most important meal in the year.  Whether this is your first one to host or not, these Thanksgiving dinner tips and shortcuts will make your traditional American meal an easier job. We have 3 posts this week about these tips and shortcuts: stuffing, traditional gravy and pumpkin pie, by Jason Parker, Executive Chef of the Westwood Country Club in Northern Virginia.

Tips One: Never stuff your turkey ahead of time.

  • The turkey should be stuffed only when it is ready to go into the oven.
  • The stuffing should be spooned lightly into the turkey’s body and neck cavities.
  • Don’t pack it because the internal temperature of the stuffing must reach 165˚F, otherwise it will not get hot enough. Stuffing also tends to expand as it absorbs moisture from the bird so filling the turkey lightly will give you the best results.
